Forest-Correze / Excursions in the Auvergne / Nature-Cantal / Dordogne-Fishing Discovering the Cantal in the Auvergne means penetrating into a world whose landscapes are memories of the geological overthrow which happened some million years ago : rocky or green country, streams of chilled lava, mountains with smooth hillsides where cow herds of Salers peacefully graze in the midst of gentians, waiting to be milked at the Alpine dairy. Today the nature there is unhurt, beautifull and wild. Two colours dominate the landscape : the blue of the sky and the water, and the green of the summer and the trees. In the Parc Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne, the plateau of Artense, the gorges of the Dordogne and the Rhue, the valleys of the Tarentaine and the Sumène appear to the visitors like a magnificent postcard land.
