The 3 communes of the district of TAUVES in the PUY DE DOME department at the storage lakeside of Dam and bathing places of BORT

LA BESSETTE :
at the boundary of the department Cantal,
this small borough (altitude 740 m), constructed around
the church of XIIth century, is surrounded with forests which extend down to the riverside of the Dordogne and reach
the beach plage de la Grange Haute just at the beginning
of the gorges. To be visited also : the Camp de César, natural panoramic terrace on the Dordogne valley. Gold mines were under exploitation during the XIXth century in this community.

LARODDE : long borough on a sunny plateau at almost 800 m, the back turned to the mountain, facing the lake with a 15 kilometers' shore, and the promenade on the « peninsula »
of la Renaudie,
enables to marvel at one of the most beautiful storage lakes, its gorges and vis-à-vis
the Correzian site de Port-Dieu. Arranged beach at the lake shore. Half Roman, half Gothic church adroitly restored.

SINGLES : constructed on a promontory which dominates the ground of the Burande at an altitude of 725 m, well known by its gold-washing, which is nowadays only a summertime attraction, at the southern end
the gorges du Chavanon. The river Dordogne flows up to its source, passing by the gorges
of Avèze which is a canoe-kayak course of national reputation. The Arpiat dam forms
the end of the storage lake of the Bort dam.
The Moulin de Serre with its camping area brings a great summer activities programme along. Mines were located in former times in
the village la Ginguette

Walking tours and mountain bike excursions around these three communes allow you
to discover the extreme end of the strorage lake of Bort.
